As part of America 250, Chapter Member Hal Gonzales spoke to the Sumter County Genealogical Society at its monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 21, 2024.

Dr. Harold Thomas Gonzales Jr., Ed D, who retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, will spoke on Spain's contribution to the American Revolution and the complexity of doing genealogy in Louisiana. Gonzales is a life member of both the Louisiana and South Carolina Sons of the American Revolution, a member of the General Society of the War of 1812 and a life member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans. He has over 4,500 hours of flying time, 2,500 in the F-16 Fighting Falcon including combat in Desert Storm. His military decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Aerial Achievement Medals. He is married to Christine Gonzales.

On October 19, 2024 Dr. Enemund Meullion Chapter held our Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony and Stated Meeting.

Prior to the chapter meeting, Dr. Enemund Meullion Chapter members, Fort Jesup C.A.R. members, LASSAR Ladies Auxiliary members, and guests met at the grave of Dr. Enemund Meullion for the Annual Wreath Laying in Old Rapides Cemetery. At Forts Buhlow & Randolph Visitors Center, Michael Wynne talked about Alexander Fulton, the founder of the Town of Alexandria, LA.  President Compton presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation.

On Oct 8, 2024. the Colonel Matthew Singleton Chapter SAE, presented Member Hal Gonzales with the Bronze Roger Sherman Medal for Service to the chapter. His wife Christine Gonzales was also honored with a Certificate of Distinguished Service for her Photographic support of the chapter.

On September 21, 2024, Guest Speaker Tony Vets gave a presentation on the founding of Fort Boonesborough, KY.

Guest Speaker Tony Vets gave a presentation on the founding of Fort Boonesborough, KY, by Daniel Boone and Richard Henderson in April 1775.  Two of Vets' Patriot Ancestors, Thomas Phelps and his daughter Lucy, were defenders of the fort during an eleven-day siege from the Shawnee and British Canadian troops in September 1778.  President Gervais Compton presented Vets with a Certificate of Appreciation for his talk.

On August 30th Chapter Member Hal Gonzales participated in the 243rd Anniversary Battle of Eutaw Springs.

SAR Color Guard members commanded by National SAR Color Guard Commander Scott Collins posted the colors. They also performed a musket volley along with the SCBP Trust Cannon team at the wreath laying ceremony. SAR and DAR Chapters from eight states were represented.

Chapter Member Hal Gonzales represents Louisiana and the Dr. Enemund Meullion Chapter in South Carolina on Aug. 3, 2024.

On August 3rd, 2024, Chapter member Hal Gonzales participated in the General Thomas Sumter Commemoration in Sumter South Carolina. He wore the uniform of the Fixed Regiment of Spanish Louisian. He delivered the keynote speech on the life of Thomas Sumter. He also presented the wreath for the Louisiana Society and the Dr. Enemund Meullion Chapter. It was a 3 day event with 106 players. Jameson finished 68th, not bad!

On August 1, 2024, one of the younger members of our Chapter, Jameson Clark, Grandson of Hal Gonzales played in the Kids PGA World Championship at Pinehurst, North Carolina

At our July Meeting, Guest Speaker Compatriot Charles Riddle III discussed his upcoming book about the Flood of 1927. His grandfather Charles Riddle I was the Chairman of the Avoyelles Parish Chapter Red Cross during the time of the flood. Photos and documents were re-discovered after Hurricane Gustav passed through Marksville in August 2008.

On May 18th, 2024, Guest speaker Michael Wynne spoke about General George Custer's time in Alexandria & Aubrey Birinyi received a Certificate and a check from the LASSAR for winning the Americanism Poster Contest

Aubrey Birinyi received a Certificate and a check from the LASSAR for winning the Americanism Poster Contest at the LASSAR Board of Directors Meeting on 13 April 2024.  Her poster was sent to NSSAR to be judged at the Annual Congress.

Diane Lawton received the SAR Fire Safety Award on behalf of her husband Michael J. Lawton, who passed away in 2006.  Michael was a founding member of the Holiday Village Fire Department, serving as president for 18 years, and remained an active member of the department throughout his life.

J. Eric Irby presented the SAR Law Enforcement Award to APD Chief Chad Gremillion.  Gremillion began his law enforcement career at Alexandria Police Department in 1995.  From 1999-2023, he served as a Louisiana State Trooper in Troop E.  On 5 April 2023, Alexandria Jacques Roy appointed Gremillion as Interim Chief.
